Step after step towards the Paseo de Sarasate renovation in Pamplona

Following our exciting win, we travelled to Pamplona to officially launch the next phase of our project. In collaboration with OAB and vi17, we continue solidifying our partnership with the city’s municipality, reinforcing our shared commitment to ensuring a seamless design process and a successful outcome for everyone!

Harmonizing natural and cultural layer

Our proposal for the Paseo de Sarasate aims to revitalize the urban space while integrating nature into it. Key aspects such as mobility, pedestrian flow, and green infrastructure, will create a resilient, dynamic, and sustainable environment. The Paseo – converging point between the old and the new town – will serve as a connection between the city’s green spaces and the fluvial path in its surroundings.

“Our main ambition is to design “meaningful places”, paying special attention to the genius loci, the historical traces and the natural values of each site. We believe in harmonising these elements, allowing them to coexist and enrich each other. Paseo de Sarasate represents a unique opportunity to apply this philosophy in practice, by merging an iconic history with urban nature in a vibrant space.”

The Paseo as a natural urban habitat

By reimagining the Paseo as a natural urban habitat, we are cultivating a greener environment that promotes water infiltration and supports thriving plant population, in harmony with the existing trees. We enhance the natural qualities of the tree system and green spaces by expanding them and creating a sustainable water collection network. Our approach is holistic, addressing mobility and pedestrian flow but also the vitality of public spaces, green infrastructure, and climate resilience.

A new temporal layer is introduced into this historic public space, creating a sustainable, resilient, and welcoming environment for people, fauna, and flora.

An open process

Providing local stakeholders with the necessary information to understand the project, and the opportunity to contribute to it, we will continue developing the design in the coming months, tailoring it to the needs of the community.

The project for the Paseo de Sarasate represents a significant step in the city’s ongoing evolution, providing a unique opportunity to boost ecological benefits, enhance climate resilience, and, at the same time, reinforce the city’s identity. Looking forward to finalising our design!
