Once parkland, the reclaimed site became an industrial landscape before falling into decline, leaving behind derelict structures, extensive hardstanding and neglected marshland. Marina Park brings this landscape full circle, restoring it as public parkland while preserving its layered identity. Existing industrial structures are repurposed, habitats and biodiversity strengthened, and water reintroduced as the foundation of a climate-resilient sponge landscape. Together, the Urban Park, Eco-Park and Marina Promenade transform the drosscape into an inclusive landscape where heritage, water, nature and public life shape Cork’s future.
