Environmental permit granted for Hub 3.0 Brussels Airport
On 17 December, the environmental permit for Hub 3.0 at Brussels Airport was officially issued by Flemish Minister for the Environment and Agriculture, Jo Brouns. This marks an important step for Brussels Airport in the further development of the airport.
“Our process thrives on connection, and this project is a powerful exercise in linking disciplines to form a single, thoughtful vision.”
— Bas Heessels, Associate, OKRA
Hub 3.0 is a strategic investment project that, in this first phase, focuses on expanding the terminal, creating a larger arrivals hall, developing a green boulevard towards the intermodal hub, and the construction of a hotel. The project thus strengthens the capacity, accessibility, and quality of the airport infrastructure.
The permit is the result of more than two years of intensive collaboration between the client, Brussels Airport Company, and the consortium ‘Benthem Crouwel Architects, Witteveen+Bos, OKRA and Stramien CV.’ The application for the environmental permit required a multidisciplinary approach, including strong expertise in areas such as environmental management, urban planning, stormwater management, and ecology.
The next step is the selection of the contractor for the execution of the works.
