Commissioned by Métropole Rouen Normandie, the Dutch design firm OKRA landscape architects has transformed the station area of Rouen Rive Droite into an attractive and pedestrian-friendly entrance to the city.
The station is a major hub with more than 6 million passengers per year, located in the historic city centre of Rouen. By narrowing carriageways and redistributing car traffic and parking, the public space has been optimally laid out as a place where people can meet and spend time. With its densely planted gardens, the design significantly improves the microclimate of the area, as a result of which the local temperature will be reduced.
