The implementation of the new town square in the centre of Hoogezand is almost completed. A central meeting space with different programme is central to the design from OKRA. The new square connects the shopping centre, De Hooge Meeren, the centre for culture, het Huis voor Cultuur en Bestuur, and the park along the Kieldiep. The central focus of the square is the garden with reflective and interactive water surface. The water installation has a stretched rectangular form of 20 x 70 metres, representing the historic peat fields in the surrounding landscape. The implementation of the water object and the paving in Italian porphyry has been realised by Rots Maatwerk. The square is expected to be completed and open to the public by the end of November 2015.
