We are very excited that today the new school campus Porteum in Lelystad will be officially opened. Kraaijvanger Architects and OKRA won the competition for the design of the school campus.
The new campus accommodates 3,800 students in 7 different buildings situated around an ellipse in the landscape. The design for the school garden was inspired by the landscape patterns of the famous Oostvaardersplassen, a nature reserve near the city of Lelystad. Subtle nuances of grass and flower fields, groves, reed beds and whimsical plaza areas form the basis of the design.
The garden also provides an educational environment, including a square near the technology classroom that functions as an outdoor workshop.
Porteum is a sustainably developed school in a healthy and innovative learning environment, where the future generations of Lelystad can develop and develop themselves.
