Shan Shao joined OKRA in 2019. She obtained a Master’s degree in landscape architecture (cum laude) at the Delft University of Technology. Her graduation project was nominated for the prestigious Archiprix NL in 2016. Shan states that there are always dynamic natural processes as an underlayer in both the urban and the natural context. As a highly motivated and experienced landscape architect, she has worked in landscape and urban design offices in China and the Netherlands.
She specializes in large-scale landscape planning, eco-island and coastal defence and human-scale spatial quality design. Her representative projects at OKRA are the winning design for the coastal area of Shenshan Special Cooperation Zone in Shenzhen (CN), the Shantou Inner Bay Urban Design International Workshop (CN), the Waterschapspark in Almelo (NL) and the preliminary design plan for Campus Rachelsmolen in Eindhoven (NL). Before, she was involved in the design for the transformation of the Afsluitdijk and the construction design of the Marker Wadden in the Netherlands.
